Knight Kits for kids, from the 1965 Allied catalog
I would have died to own one of these at age 13, but it was way to expensive!
Wow, a three transistor beauty! 1/4 mile range? I think I can shout that far. You better get that handsome carrying case for another 98 cents. I don't know what you think, but it sure looks like you could poke somebody's eye out with that antenna. With so few of parts, it's amazing these things worked at all. Adjusted for today's dollar, you can buy a family radio talky, but you could never assemble it. With large scale integration, it can contain thousands of transistors, and hundreds of tiny surface mount components. Certainly better performance and features, but that's no fun, 'cause who can get bitten by the radio bug from buying one? |
